Mountain Laurel Quilters Guild

The Charity Committee is a sub-group of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild. About 25 people have participated in the charity work over the past 8 1/2 years. The guild meets monthly but the charity committee ladies work continuously to meet the ongoing needs of the groups that they support. Gretchen Thatcher said “We make quilts (baby size, lap size, and bed size) as well as pillowcases, bibs burpcloths, and walker bags. They go to Hospice of NE Pennsylvania (through Visiting Nurses Association); St. Francis Veterans Center of Scranton, PA; Children’s Advocacy Centers of Scranton and Wilkes Barre, PA; Angel’s Closet of Stroudsburg, PA; Project Linus through Honesdale, PA coordinator; Salvation Army. Our statistics for 2016 are quilts to Hospice (160), quilts for veterans (30), quilts for Project Linus (60), Angel’s Closet (75), Children’s Advocacy Center of Scranton (225). We are long-time quilters who have houses full of quilts and families who are well supplied with quilts. We feel that God has given us the time and talent to make quilts which we want to share with those in need. We love filling the world with one quilt at a time!”
