Sisters at Heart Breast Cancer Support Group

Susan Winborne shared “Our organization, Sisters at Heart Breast Cancer Support Group, was founded in 2007 with the hope to make a difference in the lives of men and woman diagnosed with breast cancer. With sisterly love, we support each other and those affected by this disease. Together we promote awareness to the local Southern Maryland area and have done so for 12 years. In Memory of our founder, Roberta Keiliger, we make “comfort” pillows for the women and men who have cancer related breast surgery and give them to cancer patients at Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, MD. Future hospitals will be St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD and Calvert Memorial Hospital, Prince Frederick, MD.”

They currently have made 100 pillows and their goal is to distribute 50 pillows to each hospital every year.

“We trust these heart pillows will provide comfort, inspiration and hope. The comfort of snuggling and knowing it was made for a special person. The inspiration of knowing they’re not alone and we, Sisters at Heart, are here for them, and together we are survivors and believe in HOPE.” explained Susan.
