I Make surgical hats and dolls, for the NICU at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY. I use the large box of fiberfill to stuff these dolls. They are similar to a gingerbread man,12-13 inches long, made with washable fabric. There are many hospitals that use the dolls. They have no features, so that when the child comes out of surgery they use markers to draw their own features, and before hand the doctors can demonstrate on the doll where the surgery will be done. Also the dolls are dressed in a hospital gown. I find sewing very relaxing, and find comfort in being able to help others.
