Mother Bear Project

The Mother Bear Project started probably about 10 years ago when it became apparent that there are so many children in Africa without hope, especially the ones infected with HIV. The person who started this project is Amy Bermann. The word spread and by now there are hundreds of people all over the USA who knit bears for this organization. The bears end up in Africa and are distributed in schools, orphanages and community groups. They have sent more than 100,000 bears by now. So far Cornella Vifian has sent 210 bears to the organization. She likes knitting with her knitting group and loves to make something that brings joy and comfort to children.
