Project 1: Mini Stuffed Animal or Plushie

A small stuffed animal is the quintessential Poly-Fil Fiber Fill project. With just a few ounces of polyester stuffing and two pieces of felt or fleece cut into a simple shape (such as a bunny, a bear, a heart), you can have a finished plushie in under an hour.

Supplies:

  • Felt or fleece fabric (2 small pieces, same size)
  • Poly-Fil Fiber Fill stuffing
  • Needle and thread (or sewing machine)
  • Scissors and a simple template
  • Optional: googly eyes, embroidery floss for details

Cut two identical shapes, sew around the edges leaving a small gap, stuff firmly, then close the opening. That’s truly all there is to it. These make wonderful gifts for kids and adults alike, as well as being a great introduction to sewing. If you’re looking for a template, here are some cute tutorials to check out:

Project 2: Cozy Throw Pillow

This is a fantastic beginner sewing project because it involves only straight seams. Choose a fabric you love (canvas, cotton, velvet, linen), sew a simple envelope closure, and stuff it with a soft pillow insert from Fairfield World. You can even make a no sew pillow if you want to skip the sewing!

Supplies:

  • ½ yard of medium-weight fabric (cotton or linen works great)
  • Pillow Inserts
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread
  • Pins and measuring tape

The envelope-back style means no zipper needed — just two overlapping flaps of fabric on the back opening. Here are a few tutorials to help inspire you:

Project 3: No-Sew Stuffed Sock Animals

No sewing machine? No problem. Sock animals are one of the most beloved no-sew (or minimal-sew) crafts out there, and Poly-Fil Fiber Fill is the star of the show. All you need is a sock, some stuffing, rubber bands or string, and a little imagination.

Supplies:

  • 1 long sock (knee-high or tube sock)
  • Poly-Fil Fiber Fill (and maybe some Poly Pellets!)
  • Rubber bands or twine
  • Googly eyes (hot glue to attach)
  • Hot glue gun

These are a perfect project for kids, too, and great for a craft party or a rainy afternoon activity. The results are always unique and surprisingly adorable. Here are some ideas to help you get started:
