Today I have a simple but also very useful project for you. The best part is that it uses very little supplies and chances are you have most, if not all, of the items laying around your house! So gather your favorite scraps of fabric, some Poly-Fil, a little mason jar with lid and ring, a hot glue gun and glue and you are all set to make a super cute, super easy pin holder/cushion that’s sure to brighten up your day and make your sewing time easier!
Supplies Needed mason jar pin cushion:
6 1/2″ square of scrap fabric
Poly- Fil about the size of a baseball
Adtech Hot Melt Glue Gun Hot Melt Glue
Small Mason Jar with lid and ring
Place the fabric, right side down and stack the ball of Poly-Fil and the lid to the mason jar on top of the fabric.
Gather the corners of the fabric and pull toward center of the lid. Push the lid up into the ring of the mason jar.
Using your thumb to keep pressure on the lid, pull the edges down and even causing even tension to be applied to the entire surface of the Poly-Fil.
Use hot melt glue and begin to adhere the fabric to the under side of the lid, folding in as many raw edges as possible as you go around.
Fold the tip of the final corner down and then adhere over center of lid with just a dab of hot melt glue.
Once the glue has fully cooled, place pins in jar and into cushion on top of lid, screw lid onto the jar to complete your project! I hope you enjoy this project. If you make on, please come and share a link here with us. We would love to see what you do with this project as a starting point!
