Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it! I love to decorate with hearts and make Valentine’s for this love-ly holiday. I combined two of my favorite craft items, Oly*Fun fabric and decoupage medium, to make a colorful, whimsical fabric bowl. Since Oly*Fun fabric doesn’t fray, it’s a breeze to cut with dies to create professional looking heart shapes.
Supplies:
Oly*Fun fabric
Heart shaped Dies
Martha Stewart Glitter Decoupage
Resin
Step one: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or foil to protect the surface.
Step two: Cut hearts from the fabric with the die and your cutting machine.
Step three: Use a brush to apply the decoupage medium to both sides of the heart shape. Place the heart on the bowl. Repeat until the bowl is covered. I placed the largest hearts first, and then filled in the spaces with the smaller ones.
Step four: Once it has dried, paint the fabric with a second layer of decoupage medium to seal the fabric.
Step five: Mix resin according to package instructions. Brush a thin layer of resin over the fabric.
Once the resin has dried, remove the foil from the bowl to lift the whole thing off. Then you can carefully peel the foil away from the fabric bowl. If you want to seal the inside of the bowl with resin, do so. I painted mine with another layer of decoupage medium and then added iridescent glitter for a shimmery effect.
Very cool!
