Inner Wheel Club of Matthews Mint Hill

The IW Club of Matthews Mint Hill has been involved in this project for approximately 3 years. There are 20 active members in our club. A member of our club had breast cancer a few years ago. She was giving a pillow to use under her arm at the surgical site or when she was driving to protect her breast from the seat belt. She was our inspiration to begin to make pillows for women (and men) and to donate them to two of the local hospitals in our area. The pillows are made from fabric that we receive from donations from the quilting ministry at a local Lutheran Church. The husband of one of our members bought a used sewing machine from the Habitat Restore and sews all of our pillows for us. We have delivered over 1000 pillows over the last couple of years. We do this because we have great concern for the men and women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. We will continue to do this as long as our funds hold out and until there is a cure. – Anne Moore

I was given one of these beautiful pillows by Margo, Nurse Navigator at Levine Cancer Institute after my diagnosis of breast cancer – second time. First time was 17 years ago. When she presented it to me, she said she thought about a pink one, then something told her I might like the one she presented to me. It was a pretty navy pattern with sea shells on it. Margo had no idea I loved the beach and shelling! It was so perfect for me.

Your kindness is greatly appreciated. Please express my thanks to the other members who help with this ministry – Rotary Club of Matthews, Morning Star Storage, and the Quilting Ministry of Christ Lutheran Church.
