Fairfield Harbour Satellite Auxiliary of Carolina

“The Fairfield Harbour Satellite Auxiliary of CarolinaEast Health Systems has been in existence for 31 years, having formed in 1988. We are a group of approximately 75 women who meet monthly, September through June, in our neighborhood Community Center in Fairfield Harbour, New Bern, North Carolina. At these meetings, we turn in items that we have created at home over the past month, share supplies, and plan fundraising projects for the purchase of additional supplies. Our handcrafted items are all donated to patients hospitalized at CarolinaEast. We average about 900-1000 hours a month of work creating patient comfort items.

All of our items are donated to CarolinaEast Medical Center to be distributed by staff as needed to patients who are hospitalized. We usually give out the 200 filled Christmas stockings on Christmas Eve, accompanied by Santa and a therapy dog, to the delight of patients. We also give out the 200 baby blankets to mothers of babies born in December. The toy animals go to hospitalized children or children who are visiting loved ones and need to be comforted. We have mostly retired ladies with a desire to help others. We hope to improve the lives of others in whatever small ways we can. e accomplished this.” shared Pam Gaskill.
