Sun and Moon Witch's Robe Kimono Jacket
Categories: Costume, Fashion Accessories, Halloween, Fall
This sun and moon witch’s robe kimono jacket is perfect for a respectful Halloween costume or normal mystical wear. This video tutorial shows how to make a basic kimono jacket that can be created in any color, but black is traditional for witches. I used quilting cotton, but you could try this with any lightweight fabric including chiffon and lace. I used silver, gold, and white Tulip Soft Fabric Paint to create a star inspired splatter paint design. For the sun and moon applique, I used fabrics and Fairfield World Stick Fusible Interfacing. It’s my favorite interfacing for fusible applique, as it doesn’t gum up the needle. I used Decorative Trimmings 4″ black chainette fringe to add weight and movement to the sleeves. Without a substantial trim, the sleeves will stick out a bit. Decorative Trimmings have a lot to pick from. You could certainly add trim to the front and bottom of this kimono.
