Spring Tulips Crochet Pillow

The Tulip Stitch is a fun and unique crochet stitch that uses v-stitches and double crochet clusters to give the appearance of rows of tulips. It is perfect for spring decor or for a little girl’s room. This little pillow has alternating stripes of tulip stitch and plain single and double crochet. You can make each row of tulips a different color or make them all the same.

Home Elegance Pillow 14" x 14"
worsted weight yarn in 3 or more colors (white, green, and 1 or more colors for flowers, sample uses purple, pink, and yellow)
Supplies

    Step One

    Begin by making the front of the pillow, the side that has the tulip stitch pattern.

    You can make your flower (cluster stitch) rows all one color or multiple colors, I alternated purple, pink, and yellow

    5 dc cluster: (yo, insert in stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 5 times, yo, pull through all 6 loops on hook

    Start with white yarn

    ch 41 (stitch repeat is a multiple of 3+1, +1 for turning ch)

    Row 1: sc in 2nd stitch from hook and each stitch across (40 sc)

    Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across, change to green yarn in last stitch (40 sc)

    Row 3: ch 4, dc in first stitch, [skip 2, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next stitch] repeat to end, change to flower color (purple) (14 v-stitches)

    Row 4: ch 2, 5 dc cluster in ch 1 space, [ch 2, 5 dc cluster in next ch 1 space] repeat to end, change to white (14 clusters)

    Row 5: ch 1, [sc in top of cluster, 2 sc in ch 2 space] repeat to end, finishing with sc in top of last cluster (40 sc)

    Row 6: ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across, change to green yarn in last stitch (40 sc)

    Row 7: ch 4, dc in first stitch, [skip 2, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next stitch] repeat to end, change to flower color (pink) (14 v-stitches)

    Row 8: ch 2, 5 dc cluster in ch 1 space, [ch 2, 5 dc cluster in next ch 1 space] repeat to end, change to white (14 clusters)

    Repeat rows 5-8 five more times changing the color of the flowers to yellow in the next repeat, then purple, pink, yellow, and purple in the last repeat

    Repeat rows 5-6 one more time, do not cut yarn

    using white yarn sc all the way around the outside of the pillow front, work 1 sc in each stitch along the top and bottom, 3 sc in the corners, and along each side work 1 sc in each sc row and 2 sc in each dc row

    Once you have worked around the entire edge finish off and cut yarn, weave in ends

    Make pillow back

    ch 42

    Row 1: dc in 4th ch (first 3 ch count as a dc), dc in each stitch to the end (40 dc)

    Row 2-22: ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each stitch to the end (40 dc)

    sc all the way around the outside of the square, work 1 sc in each stitch along top and bottom, 3 sc in each corner, and 2 sc in each dc along the sides

    do not cut yarn

    Step Three

    Place the back and front of your pillow together and sc around the outside, working through both layers, once you have worked around 2 or 3 of the sides put the pillow insert in between the layers. continue sc around the edge until you have worked all the way around and the insert is completely enclosed.

    Finish off and weave in ends
