Weighted Blankets provide therapeutic relief for those with sensory processing orders. This pattern can be adjusted to grow with your child by changing the amount of Poly-Pellets used.

What you need to make this project

Materials
Poly-Pellets® weighted stuffing beads – amount equal to 10% of the child’s body weight plus 1 pound.
(1) 36” x 22: fleece
• (1) 36” x 22” coordinating fabric
• (2) 36” x 22” muslin (for lining)

Instructions

Step One

Divide Poly-Pellets into 16 even portions and set aside.

Step Two

Layer fabrics on top of one another on a flat surface and pin 22” edges together in the following order:
Bottom – muslin
Second – fleece (right side up)
Third – coordinating fabric (right side down)
Top – muslin

Step Three

Sew a ½” seam on each 22” edge. Turn right side out.

Step Four

Sew a center seam on the surface.

Step Five

Tuck the 36” edges under the ½” and pin in place 4” apart. Sew a seam on the surface every 4 inches to form 16 pockets.

Step Six

Fill each pocket with 1 measured portion of Poly-Pellets and allow them to fall to the bottom.

Step Seven

Top stitch along the 36” edges to close the pockets and secure the pellets.
