Instructions

Step One

Cut and stitch 25 6″ Cuddle Fabric squares together to form your pillow top.  Use a 1/2 seam allowance.

Use Cuddle Scraps and Poly-Fil to make these Easy Puff Pillows.

Use a temporary adhesive basting spray to attach your pillow top to a piece of waste fabric.  I used some thin muslin.  This will only show on the inside of your pillow cover, so you can use any fabric that you’d really just like to get rid of.

Step Two

With your sewing machine “stitch-in-the-ditch” to make along three parallel seams and down the two parallel sides to make 5 channels.  Then stitch ONLY ONE of the center seams going the other direction.  Use your fingers as much as you can to keep the pile (longer hairs) of the cuddle fabric out of the stitching.

You should end up with something that looks like this from the back.

Step Three

Add Poly-Fil® Premium Fiber Fill into each of the square to each side of your center seam until they’re comfortably full.  You should end up with something that looks like this:

Step Four

Stitch-in-the-ditch to close up each row of squares you’ve filled, stuff the next row, and repeat until all the squares are filled and enclosed.

Step Five

For the back, for each pillow, you need to cut two rectangles measuring 26″x 14.5″ from coordinating cuddle fabrics.  We chose Zig Zag Cuddle® in Lemon/Silver/Charcoal.

For each piece, fold one of the long edges under 1″ and securely sew your velcro there.  You’ll sew the velcro onto the FRONT of fold on the lower piece and BACK of the fold on the upper piece.  Put your pieces together to make a square.  Both pieces velcroed together should make a 26″ square.

Step Six

Pin your pillow front to your pillow back.  Because of the poof, your pillow front will look smaller, but if you pin carefully and stretch the pillow front out to its full shape, the two will match at 26″.  Stitch with a 1/2 to 1″ seam allowance depending on what your sewing machine can handle.

Clip corners and turn right side out.  Your finished cover should be 25″ square.  Add a 26″ pillow insert.  (The secret to a nice full pillow is an insert an inch or two larger.)
