Ruffle Quilt Block Pillow

Use any of the 9 different techniques to make the center block for this fun and easy pillow – here we’re using Month 2 from our Block of the Month, the ruffle block.

Start by making your 12.5″x12.5″ (12″ finished) quilt block. We are using Month 2 from the Technique Block of the Month – the ruffle block.

Cut from your extra fabric, 4 strips:
2 Strips: 12.5″ x 3.5″
2 Strips: 18″ x 3.5″
2 Pieces: 12″ x 18″

Sew the two 12.5″x 3.5″ to two opposite sides of the block. Press open.

Add the other two 3.5″ strips to the top and bottom. Press open. This is the finished pillow front.

The two remaining pieces will make up the pillow back. Finish one of the 18″ sides on each. Fold down 1/4″, press. Fold down again, another 1/4″ and press again.

Stitch down the edge.

Place the pillow front, right side up, on the table. Place the two back pieces, right sides down, on top of the pillow front. The two finished edges should be in the center, overlapping by a couple inches. Pin all the way around.

Stitch around all four sides.

Turn right side out through the overlap in the center of the back. Insert a pillow form.
