Instructions

Step One

4 inch charm quilt size chart

The crib sized blanket is our personal favorite for babies and young children.  It’s big enough to grow with the child for years of love and small enough to still be carried around.

Step Two

For a crib-sized quilt, you’ll need squares in the following colors.  Numbers are approximate since there is flexibility in the pattern for color substitutions.  You can either collect I-Spy fabrics yourself and ask your sewing friends for scraps.  Or you can join online swaps or purchase sets.

Black Squares: 27

White Squares: 27

(Note grey squares and be used to substitute for either as needed as can squares that are equally black and white.)

Red Squares: 12

Orange Squares: 22

Yellow Squares: 36

Green Squares: 30

Blue Squares: 30

Purple Squares: 10

Pink Squares: 10

You’ll find some square are “yellow-orange” or “blue-green” etc.  Just put those somewhere between.  There’s no exact science to it.  Have fun playing with the arrangement until you’re happy with it.

Step Three

Stitch your squares with a 1/4 inch seam allowance, taking care to match corners.   The most important thing in getting matching corners is being really consistent with your seams.
