Quick and Easy Baby Burp Cloths

Categories: Gifts, Kid Friendly

These burp cloths are really quick and easy to make. They can be made in just a matter of minutes and are great for baby gifts. They are made with Embrace Double Gauze from Shannon Fabrics on one side, nice absorbent terry cloth on the other side and inside is a layer of Shield to help provide a moisture barrier. The rectangular shape is easy to cut and sew, no special pattern needed, but it still works great. If you want to make a handmade baby gift but don’t have a lot of time just whip up a set of 2 or 3 and you are set.

Instructions

  • burp cloth supplies
  • burp cloth pieces cut

Step One

Gather your fabric and Shield lining and cut one rectangle from each that measures 18″ x 9″. You should have one rectangle from the double gauze, one from terry cloth and one from Shield.

Step Two

Layer your fabrics so that the terry and double gauze are right sides together and the Shield is on the outside. Shiny side in makes it a little easier to sew. Pin all the way around.

Step Three

Sew around the outside edge leaving an opening of a couple of inches on one side.

Step Four

Clip corners, turn right side out.

  • finished burp cloths

Step Five

Topstitch all the way around the edge of the burp cloth, closing your opening as you sew. That’s it, your done. Now you can make a whole set.
