Step One

Download and print out the Pattern Sheet.

Begin by measuring and cutting the bag pieces as noted:

• Button Loop: One 6” X ½” White
• Strap: Two 33” X 2” Black
• Bags Sides: Two 52” X 3” Black
• Backpack Loops: One 8” X ½” Black
• Strap Loops: Two 4” X 2” Black
• Pocket: One 9” Square Pink
• Bag Body One: Two Bags Pink Template
• Bag Body Two: Two Bags White Template

Next stitch the bag pieces together.

Button Loop: Fold the white 6” X ½” strip in half to make a 6” X ¼” strip. Pin the folded strip together. Stitch down the center using the sewing machine. Set aside

Step Two

Straps: Fold the two 33” x 2” strips in half to make two 33” x 1” strips. Pin in place. Stitch a row of stitches down each side of the strips using a ¼” seam allowance to create two rows of stitches. Sew the two stitched strips together using a ½” overlap at one end to create a 65 ½” x 1” strip. Set aside.

Step Three

Backpack Loops: Fold the 8” x 1/2” black strip in half to make an 8”x 1/4” strip. Sew two rows of stitches down the strip. Cut the strip in fourths to form four strips 2” x ¼”. Set aside.

Step Four

Strap Loops: Fold both 4” x 2” strips in half to make two 4” x 1” strips. Pin in place. Stitch a row of stitches down each side of the strips using a ¼” seam allowance to create two rows of stitches. Set aside.

Step Five

Pocket: Fold one side of the 9” square over 1”. Pin in place. Using a ¼” seam allowance stitch across to form an 8” X 9” pocket. Set aside.

Step Six

Assemble the bag. Follow the stitching key below:

Bags Outer Pocket: Select one cut pink bag body. Lay on work surface. Place the 8¨ x 9¨ pocket in the center stitch side facing the bags opening. Stitch around the three un-stitched sides attaching the pocket to the bag.

Step Seven

Backpack Loops- Take two of the 2” x ¼” black strips. Fold each in half and pin one to each side of the bottom of the bag. Note: Loops will be placed in with ends laying slightly over the bags edge. This will ensure loops will be attached when bag is sewn together.

Step Eight

Bag One: Start with the pink bag body with the loops pinned on. Pin one black 52”x 3” strip around the bag bottom and sides. Pleat the strip around the curved bottom. Stitch on the reverse side from the pocket using a ¼” seam allowance. Repeat using the second pink bag body. Set aside.

Bag Two: Repeat the process for the bag using the white bag bodies. Add the two backpack loops at the bottom sides and the white button loop to the top. Leave a 4” opening in one side so bag can be turned inside out after being sewn together.

Step Nine

Button Loop: Using the white 6” x ¼” strip fold in half and pin in place at the top center of the bag like the backpack loops. Button loop will be attached in the next step.

Step Ten

Stitching Bags Together: Turn each bag body inside out. Place the pink bag without the opening into the white one. Pin together at the top. Place the 4”x 1” black strips through a key ring and pin in the opening of the top sides of the bag. Be sure the key ring is facing in the bag and the ends of the strip facing out. Stitch top of bag together using a ¼” seam allowance. Turn bag right side out. Close side opening. Finish bag body with a top by stitch around the bags opening using a ¼” seam allowance. If desired use a decorative stitch.

Step Eleven

Button: Sew two buttons to the top center of the bag – one inside and one out. Measure to ensure space to secure with button loop.

Strap: Slip two key rings onto the black 65-1/2¨ X 2¨ strip. Overlap the two open ends 1/2¨ and sew together. Slide one ring to each end. Press the two  pieces together and secure with a pin at each end to create a loop or the ring. Stitch. Place a claw hook on each key ring. Clip claw hook to bag body
rings.
