Moss Stitch Crochet Pillow

Categories: Pillow, Crochet

The moss stitch is a really simple crochet stitch, made by alternating single crochet stitches and chains, but it creates a neat woven type texture. I used that stitch to make this easy crochet pillow. I also used a bulky weight yarn that has a gradual color change and a large hook which made the project even faster and gave it more visual interest. The pillow is made by crocheting a long strip that is then folded so that the ends overlap creating a flap on one side. Then the sides are stitched closed and a pillow insert is put inside of the cover through the flap on the back. If you want to make a crocheted pillow cover but you don’t want something complicated or that will take a long time to make this is a great pillow to try. Finished size is about 12″ square.

Step Two

Fold the long strip so that the ends overlap about 3 inches in the center of one side.

  • finishing pillow edge

Step Three

Single crochet along one side of the pillow being sure to crochet through all of the layers, most of the time you will be working through 2 layers, the section where the ends overlap you will be working through 3 layers. Do the same thing on the other side.

Weave in all ends.

Step Four

Put the pillow insert into the finished pillow cover through the flap opening on the back.
