Create a Journey Pillow embellished with the bobbles and trinkets collected while traveling. These unique and personal touches are a great way to remember and share past experiences with family and friends. Pillows can be made any size using our easy to follow instructions.

What you need to make this project

Materials: Soft Touch Pillow Form 12” X 22”; 1 yd. Denim Fabric; J.& P. Coats Super Fine Merino DK Cream Yarn; Coordaining Thread

Supplies: Fiskars Non-Stick 8” Scissors; Fiskars Titanium Rotary Cutter; Fiskars Cutting Mat 24” x 36”; Fiskars Folding Acrylic Ruler 6 X 24; PattieWack Large Pompom & Tassel Maker; Sewing Machine

Instructions

Step One

Cut denim fabric using a rotary cutter, cutting mat and acrylic ruler. Back Panel -13” x 23”, Front Panel – 13” x 24”.

Step Two

Front Panel Pleat. Fold the front panel in half width-wise to find the center. Lightly crease by pressing your hand along the fold.

Working on the finished side of the fabric, fold the crease under itself ¼” to create a pleat. Pin. Stitch across the top of the pleat to secure.

Step Three

Sew Pillow Cover Together

Finished sides out, place the front and back panels together. Trim any excess fabric from the front panel to match the back-panel size.

Step Four

Tuck all fabric edges ¼” inside of the pillow cover. Pin in place. Stitch around pillow leaving a 20” opening at the bottom for the pillow form to be inserted.

Insert pillow inside cover and stitch closed.

Step Five

Embellish Pillows

We created a tassel and pompom using the super fine merino wool yarn to secure the bead and large coin to our pillow fronts. Be creative with your found treasures!

Note: Backside of pillows should remain un-embellished. This will allow a soft side to be used for napping.
