Step One

Determine the size you want  finished your floor cloth. Cut the Household utility foam to match the finished size desired.  Add two inches to that length and width to determine the amount of Cuddle suede material needed.

Step Two

Cut material to size using rotary cutter, acrylic ruler and cutting mat. Lay the faux suede material out on a flat work surface in preparation for drawing the flowers.

Step Three

Practice drawing flowers onto a piece of scrap paper to get the flow of the lines. Perfection is not necessary. The goal is to achieve clean solid lines. Then glide the marker over the fabric with a medium to light stroke. Do not press down too hard as fabric may bunch. Draw flowers in a random pattern. Mix in different sizes of the flower which will keep the pattern interesting.

Note: The ink dries fast however, avoid placing your hand over a freshly drawn flower as it may smear.

Step Four

Continue until you have covered the entire piece of suede creating your own truly unique design. Leaves, stems and other varieties of flowers can be added.

Step Five

Cover the entire piece of faux suede with flowers. Enhance your layout with pops of color by using additional marker colors or embroidery floss as we used here.

Step Six

For fringe cut a piece of the Noire Black Batting two times the width of the floor cloth by 3 inches. Cut in half. trim one side with pinking shears to prevent fraying. Cut 2 inch deep strips  in 1/2 inch intervals on the flat side of the trim.

Step Seven

Measure 1 1/2  inches down from edge of floor cloth, pin fringe in place and double stitch. Repeat on other end.

Step Eight

Turn over cloth and spray glue the utility foam in center of cloth leaving about an inch of cloth showing on each side. Fold and spray glue edges over utility foam. Flip over and enjoy.
