Fall brings cool crisp air and falling leaves…picking apples and going to the pumpkin patch.   It is also time to put some fall pieces out.  This Faux Quilted Pumpkins Pillow would be a great addition to your fall home decor.  Bonus…it is quick and easy to make too!

What you need to make this project

Soft & Toasty™ Cotton Batting
Poly-Fil® Premium Fiber Fill
Muslin 16" x 16" (2)
Thread, cream
Supplies
Ann Butler Faux Quilting Stamps, 2" Squares and Triangles, assorted
Ann Butler Crafter's Ink by Clearsnap: Tangelo, Deep Woods
Sewing Machine
Scissors
Round Plate, 12"
Sharpie Marker, Black

Instructions

Step One

To create the pumpkin fabric…stamp out 5 rows with 7 assorted 2″ squares.  For the first row and last rows, stamp a 2″ triangle and then five 2″ squares followed by a 2″ triangle on the muslin using Tangelo.

Step Two

Heat set with iron.

Step Three

Place a 16″ x 16″ piece of Soft & Toasty™ Cotton Batting behind the stamped fabric.

Step Four

Stitch between stamped images and…

diagonally through them.

Step Five

Place stamped and stitched muslin onto second piece of muslin, right sides together.

 

Step Six

Fold into quarters and place the plate on the two folded edges and mark a quarter circle with the sharpie.

Trim away excess seam allowances.  Sew leaving a 2″ – 3″ opening to turn, this will be the top of the pillow.

Step Seven

With the seam allowances trimmed away, stamp out 2 Deep Woods triangles and 1 square.

Sew around the triangles leaving a small opening to turn.  Turn right sides out.  These will be the leaves.

Sew a rectangle from the square, leaving on short end open to turn right sides out.  this will be the stem.

Step Eight

Stuff the pillow with Poly-fil®.

Step Nine

Sew the leaves and stem in place and then stitch the opening closed.
