Crochet Snowdude

Categories: Decor, Crochet, Holiday, Winter

This winter amigurumi project can be used as a stress ball (just squeeze the head from behind, with your thumb and forefinger where the ears would be positioned) or as a decorative ornament (by adding the optional ornament loop). Use classic snowman colors or make a quirky version with scrap yarn or stripes. The Poly-Fil® Crafter’s Choice® Dry Packing Fiber Fill is easy to stuff and gives the Snowdude a firm structure so it holds its shape. The Crochet Snowdude pattern is available here on Underground Crafter.

Instructions

Step One

The Snowdude is an easy crochet pattern made with just three parts. It uses basic crochet stitches (chain, single crochet, and slip stitch), working in rounds, increasing, decreasing, crocheting in the back loop, and joining pieces.

Finished Size

  • Approximately 6” (15 cm) tall with hat.

Gauge

  • Through Rnd 11 in pattern for head = 4” (10 cm) diameter. Exact gauge is not critical for this project but stitches should be small so that fiber filling doesn’t show.

The Poly-Fil® Crafter’s Choice® Dry Packing Fiber Fill allows you to firmly pack the Snowdude so it retains it’s shape and gives some resistance as a stress ball.

Step Two

Start by crocheting the head, stuffing firmly. Once the head is finished, the carrot nose is crocheted and then attached. Sew on the button eyes, and then finish off with the stuffed top hat.

Step Three

If you’d like to use the Snowdude as an ornament, the pattern includes instructions for adding an optional hanging loop.
