Instructions

Step One

The Lion Pocket Pillow is a simple crochet pattern worked mostly flat in rows. It uses basic crochet stitches (chain, single crochet, and slip stitch), working in rows (for the Panels) and rounds (for the Muzzle and Ears), increasing, and seaming.

Finished Size

  • Pillow: 10” (25.5 cm) wide x 12” (30.5 cm) tall before stuffing.

Gauge

  • 18 sc x 20 rows = 4” (10 cm). Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern but stitches should be small so that fiber filling doesn’t show.

Step Two

If you’re new to crochet, learn the basic stitches required for this pattern with these video tutorials by Fiber Flux.

Learn how to crochet a chain with this video,…

…how to make the single crochet in this video,…

…and how to crochet the slip stitch in this video.

Step Three

For this project, you’ll start by crocheting Front and Back Panels, a Pocket Panel, a Muzzle, and Ears.

Step Four

Once the pieces are crocheted, you’ll attach seam them together, stuff the pillow, and add the Mane.

The Pocket is joined together when you assemble the pieces, and it fits a book or most tablets.
