Instructions

Step One

The Kodiak Bear Pillow Pal starts with a series of circles using simple crochet stitches (chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch) and increases. The Muzzle, Nose, Eyes, and Front and Back are crocheted in the round, while the Ears and Mouth are crocheted flat in rows.

Finished Size

  • Fits a 32” (81.5 cm) round pillow form.

Gauge

  • Muzzle = 8.25” (21 cm) diameter in pattern. Exact gauge is not critical for this project. Stitches should be tight so that pillow doesn’t show through.

Step Two

For this project, you’ll start by crocheting the pieces for the Front, Back, Muzzle, Nose, Eyes, Ears, and Mouth.

Step Three

Once you have all of your pieces ready, you can start to assemble the Front by sewing pieces to the face. Then, you’ll use a single crochet seam on the right side to join the Front and Back. You can slide in your Fairfield Soft Touch® 32” Round Pillow Insert now to check for fit.

Step Four

Once your pillow is seamed halfway, you’ll add buttonholes to create a button closure.
