Boxy Fox Amigurumi

Categories: Kid Friendly, Doll, Crochet

This crocheted Boxy Fox Amigurumi is made with a rectangular base which gives it the boxy shape. The arms, legs and tail are crocheted into the body so they are very securely attached. This along with the safety eyes and nose make it a great little stuffed animal for kids to play with. The ears are sewn on as the top of the head is sewn closed. Weighted stuffing beads sewn in a little fabric pouch and inserted in the bottom help the fox sit up.

Project Note: The arms, legs, tail and ears are all crocheted amigurumi style, meaning you do not join after each round, just continue spiraling up. The body portion is made by first crocheting a rectangle and then crocheting around that base to work up, because of the shape I preferred to join each round on the body, ch 1 and begin the next round. If you prefer to join each round it should work the same, I just chose not to do it that way.

Finish off and flatten

  • muslin pouch
  • weighted pellets
  • weighted insert

Step Six

Fold fabric square in half and sew around 3 sides, leaving an opening for turning and filling. Turn right side out and fill with weighted stuffing beads (it may be easier to do this if you use a small paper to create a funnel). Sew opening closed.

  • amigurumi inside

Step Seven

Insert your weighted pouch into the bottom of the fox then stuff the rest of the fox with fiberfill.

Step Eight

Flatten the top of the head. Thread the yarn needle with the tail that you left on the top of the head, slide the needle under some stitches to get to the corner. Sew the head shut and the ears on. I used a whipstitch and the under part of the stitch I would stitch through the head layers and the over part of the stitch I would stitch through the ear layers. This attached the ears securely to the top of the head and they stood up nicely. Weave in the end and you fox is done.
