Step One
This pillow is worked in the mini corner to corner stitch, regular corner to corner is made using ch 3 and 3 dc, the mini version uses ch and 2 hdc. A pdf graph is attached showing the pattern to follow.
I like to start my graphs in the lower left corner, I know some people start on the right but I will write the pattern as if I were starting in the lower left corner, feel free to follow the graph and work in your preferred manner. I am not giving a tutorial on c2c crochet in this pattern so if you are not familiar with it you may want to familiarize yourself with the stitch first.
Make 4 identical squares
Row 1: (bottom left square) begin with white yarn, ch 4, skip 2, hdc in 2 ch (1 white square)
Row 2: ch 4, sk 2, hdc in next 2, sl st in ch space from row 1, ch 2, 2 hdc in same ch sp (2 white squares)
Row 3: ch 4, sk 2, hdc in next 2, change to black yarn, sl st in ch space from row previous row, ch 2, 2 hdc in same ch sp, change to white yarn, sl st in next ch space, ch 2, 2 hdc in same ch sp (2 black squares, 1 white square)
Row 4: change to black, ch 4, sk 2, hdc in next 2, sl st in ch space from row previous row, ch 2, 2 hdc in same ch sp, [sl st in next ch space, ch 2, 2 hdc in same ch sp] 3 times (4 black squares)
continue working in the same stitch pattern in the following colors
Row 5: 5 black squares
Row 6: 6 black squares
Row 7: white, black, white, black, white, black, white (4 white, 3 black)
Row 8: 8 white squares
Row 9: 9 white squares
Row 10: 10 white squares
Row 11: black, white, black, white, black, white, black, white, black, white, black (6 black, 5 white)
now you will begin decrease rows, to decrease you will slip stitch across the side of the last stitch then ch 2 and work into the ch space
Row 12: 10 black
Row 13: 9 black
Row 14: 8 black
Row 15: white, black, white, black, white, black, white (4 white, 3 black)
Row 16: 6 white
Row 17: 5 white
Row 18: 4 white
Row 19: black, white, black (2 black, 1 white)
Row 20: 2 black
Row 21: 1 black
