Instructions

Step One

Using the patterns provided cut out the necessary pieces.

Step Two

Girl Bib – With right sides together, stitch the collar fronts to the lining pieces. Turn right side out and press. Note: all seams are ¼ inch.

Step Three

Place the Shield, then batting on top, on a flat surface and cover with the main and lining fabric right sides together. Stitch around the outside edge. Trim the seams to 1/8 inch.

Step Four

Turn right side out and press. Top stitch around the outside edge.

Step Five

Place the collars on top of the bib aligning them with the neckline cut out. Top stitch the collars on top of the bib front.

Step Six

Creating Bias Binding
Using the diagrams provided; cut, fold and press a binding strip. Fold the binding strip in half and mark the center point. Pin the binding strip to the neckline of the bib, matching the center points. Top stitch the binding to the neckline of the bib, stitching down the length of the strip creating the bib ties.

Step Seven

Boy Bib – Turn under the edges of the shirt placket to meet at the center back and press. Pin the placket to the center front of the boy’s bib.

Step Eight

Place the Shield, shiny side up on a flat surface, cover it with the batting then the main bib and lining fabrics right sides together. Pin then stitch around the outside edge. Trim the seams to 1/8 inch.

Step Nine

Turn right side out and press. Top stitch around the outside edge.

Step Ten

Using the diagrams provided; cut, fold and press a binding strip. Fold the binding strip in half and mark the center point. Pin the binding strip to the neckline of the bib, matching the center points. Top stitch the binding to the neckline of the bib, stitching down the length of the strip creating the bib ties.
