We are delighted to introduce you to the amazingly talented Wendi Gratz from Shiny Happy World! We’re positive that once you see her work you’ll love her just as much as we do at Fairfield World.
We are thrilled that Wendi uses Poly-Fil Supreme Ultra Plush in all her creations. She raved about the quality of our product in this post from 2013, saying that “as soon as I opened the package I noticed that it was very different from my usual stuffing. It was very smooth and the fibers had a kind of a silky glide to them. The spun threads felt finer and it didn’t clump up at all.” This was her daughter’s priceless reaction to Poly-Fil Supreme: “It’s sooooooo soft!” “It’s sooooooo silky!” “My softies are sooooooooo smooth!”
So, what does she do with all that Poly-Fil? Check out some of our favorite creations from Shiny Happy World:
And she also makes amazing quilts! Look at this colorful, fun pattern:
We decided to catch up with Wendi recently and learn more about her. Here’s what she shared with us:
FFW: Please tell us a little about yourself and your site.
Wendi: I’m on a mission to teach people to sew, quilt, and embroider. I design patterns especially for beginners and I never release a pattern until I have videos teaching you every skill you’ll need to complete the project. You can find out more about me at my website www.shinyhappyworld.com. And sign up for the Shiny Happy News by clicking HERE! You’ll get a weekly email full of sewing news, links to free patterns, my favorite recipes, sneak peeks and special discounts. 🙂
FFW: What is your favorite project or tutorial and why?
Wendi: I think my favorite project is Munch the Monster. (You can find the digital pattern by clicking HERE.) He has a fun pocket mouth and he’s super easy to make. And I’ve seen so many amazing ones made by my customers! People make him in sports team colors, college colors, rainbow colors and more. They make a bunch of Munches and give one to each grandchild. They give him as a gift with another gift tucked into his pocket mouth. He has heavy pellets in his long arms and legs so he’s super fun to pose. People send photos of him stuffing treats in his pocket mouth, fighting over the remote, and eating spools of thread. Every time someone sends me a photo of a Munch they made – it always makes me smile. 🙂
(Here is one of my favorite customer photos.)
FFW: Can you share one quote or saying you love?
Wendi: “A party without cake is just a meeting.” Julia Child said that and she’s one of my heroes. I love her attitude that anyone can learn anything if you break it down into easy steps to follow. Plus – she’s totally right on this point. Though I would expand “cake” to include popsicles, cookies and ice cream cookie sandwiches. 🙂
FFW: Describe your blog or your creative style in six words.
Wendi: Fun. Helpful. Silly. Imperfectionist. Colorful. Cuddly.
We couldn’t agree with her more! Please visit Wendi’s wonderful site, Shiny Happy World, to see more of her fun, colorful, and cuddly projects and patterns.
