  • Wales - The lengthwise ribs on knit fabrics.

  • Warp - Threads parallel to selvage of the fabric.

  • Weft - Threads running across the width of the fabric.

  • Well of the seam - The seam line on the right side of the fabric.

  • Welt - Visible part of a bound buttonhole, bound pocket, or welt pocket.

  • Whole cloth quilt - A quilt that is made from full sheets of fabric (top and bottom) that is usually quilted with an intricate design.
