Biography

Hi! My name is Candice Caruso and I was born at the right time. 1985, when quilting was starting to make a big comeback and fabric patterns were becoming more exciting. I started sewing as a child when I was old enough to sit on my mothers’ lap and guide fabric through. I joined my first quilt guild, Salt Creek Quilters Guild in Hinsdale, IL, when I was 13. When I graduated from high school I didn’t want a car. I asked for a Pfaff 2056 and I have played with every feature at least twice. I entered the Pfaff sewing competition three times and received a first and second place for garments.

After joining my guild I took as many quilt classes as I could. The first I took was a Quilt as You Go where the most important thing I learned was there are no rules to quilting. I enjoy playing with color, design, texture, and thread. I have recently started drawing and painting my fabric. I get inspired by everything from nature to video games. I’ve designed my own quilts since I first joined my guild and was first approached by Patchedworks in Elm Grove, Wisconsin to carry two of my patterns inspired by retro video games. I plan to put out more patterns in the future and explore more with painting and threadwork.
