Biography

Cherish Flieder combines the traditional arts of painting and embroidery to create warmth, personality, and charm with her signature art brand Something to Cherish®.

Cherish is a designer and illustrator enthralled by color, composition, concept, and texture. She grew up as the eldest child in a large family where her parents and grandparents cared for and adopted several special-needs children. Her active childhood taught her the value of cherishing relationships, honoring even small accomplishments, and soaking in every moment you can squeeze out of life. Cherish is humbled that everyday she gets to live her life-long dream of being an artist inspiring others around her to chase after their dreams as well! She sketches, paints, crafts, and creates innovative products for fellow art appreciators as she has been doing since she was a very small child.

She and her husband Benjamin Hummel run a multi-faceted design studio called Cherished Solutions at the base of the beautiful Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado. Together they work on award winning children’s books, gift and greeting card lines, graphic design projects and three art licensing collections; Something to Cherish®, Been Cherished™ and Painting for Life™. Cherish also teaches illustration classes as an adjunct faculty at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design. She is active in the Designer Section of the Craft & Hobby Association, Colorado Watercolor Society, Society of Children’s Writers & Illustrators, and Colorado Alliance of Illustrators. She even founded her own international online group for art licensing professionals at ArtOfLicensing.com where people can go to learn and support one another in the business of art licensing.

Other than creating art and teaching, Cherish loves to travel. She is often inspired by people, cultures and traditions both near and far. Most often you can find her on her blog at SomethingToCherish.com, tweeting @cherishart, or on Facebook at facebook.com/somethingtocherish.
